THE CRISIS OF RELIGIOUS FAITH AND RULING POLITICS

A CRITIQUE OF THE MUSLIM ULAMA AND LEADERS'
                                  CALL TO AHL AL-SUDAN (12)

It is frightening how the Jordan trades unionists who signed the Call for Ahl Al-Sudan, including leaders of the engineers, physicians, and Jordan Bar Association did not care to say a word to condemn the Haraka Islamiya's Government of Sudan for the savage dehumanizing ill treatment it did against Sudan Workers' Federation and Sudan Professionals' Unions and Free
Associations.

It is amazing, frightening, and is indeed worthy of a very careful study how the Call of Haraka Islamiya Arabiya did not care to speak about the origin of the crisis, the direct responsibility of Haraka Islamiya led by za'im Hassan Turabi and president Omer Bashir for all the devastation that Sudan passed through since the Haraka Islamiya's military coup of June 1989 up to
this moment.

It is not Sudanese mistake that their love to freedom, their rich potentialities and wealthy experiences helped them to recognize modern democratic principles of rule, independent judiciary from executive and legislative branches of State, non-authority social consensus [Shoura] on the basis of extended family relations, and the valuable modern practice of
participation in the economic and community life of the country by trades unions that existed and steadfastly defended the right of people decades before Haraka Islamiya learned to establish trades unions and lead those of engineers, physicians, or journalists to which some signatories belonged.

Sudanese unions and professional groups, however, are not comparable with your Haraka Islamiya unions that are shamefully supportive of the violent State and brutal Party of Sudan and the persecution they have unlawfully pursued upon the Sudanese free and independent trades unionism.

Sudan, O Ulama, Leaders, and Thinkers of the Muslim Brotherhood's Haraka Islamiya is no laboratory for you or any other entity on earth.

Sudan several times was leadership of the Region's democracy and pluralism that your Haraka Islamiya is now weeping for to resolve the disputes your Haraka earlier incited between Sudanese and decided upon them by the use of force like any colonial authority.

Sudan initiated and experienced in progressive and civilized ways the Masses Movement for half a century while you have just learned to refer to the masses in political statements following the disastrous failure of your Imamiya theory of anti-democratic rule as the case of Sudan clearly informed.

Sudanese are the only People of the late 19th century that revolted with the Mahdiya against the atrocious rule of the so-called Muslim Turk-Egyptian Empire. The Mahdiya despite all its shortcomings and negative practice and results, overthrew an unfair foreign system of rule that had only ruled Sudan to enslave Sudanese and steal Sudan's natural wealth.

Sudanese are the only People in the 20th century who made the glorious Masses' Uprising of October 1964 and March/April 1985 and they will make another Uprising to overthrow the corrupted non-ethical system of Haraka Islamiya, the one you did find courage to label as "failure" in your Call.

Sudanese have so much to teach Haraka Islamiya, if only wise leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood Haraka Islamiya learn to appreciate the strength, depth, and nobility of the Nation of Sudan they wrongfully chose to challenge, troubled, and hoped to eradicate. Thanks be to the Lord! You did confess in your Call the failure of your Project in Sudan, the historic grave of invaders.

Dear Muslim Ulama and Muslim Leaders and Thinkers, Signatories of the Call:

The only motive for the military coup of June 30, 1989, that destroyed Sudan's optimum chance for a permanent peace based on mutual respect of humanity, decent agreement of sisterly nationhood between Southerners and Northerners (the only groups then at war with one another in Sudan, as well as the other Sudanese regions in the present time) was to control, rule, and enjoy using and abusing Sudan wealth by members and supporters of the Haraka Islamiya at the expense of all Sudanese, Muslim or non-Muslim.

The only "logic" of war escalation as practiced by the abrogation of the Sudanese Peace Agreement 1988 was definitely no logic because it only destroyed Sudan and still is as it dumped Sudanese in the unfair acts of war that the government of the Haraka Islamiya recklessly waged and escalated in a most irresponsible way for no reason but selfishness, corruption, and the sinful richness of warfare.

It is appreciated that the non-Sudanese Haraka Islamiya leaders and supporters now signed an important call upon the People of Sudan to live in peace, cherish democracy and Hukum [i.e., judgment] of the Masses of People, within the framework of pluralism and democracy as the Call ascertained and called for.

Notwithstanding, it is amazing that the Call never said a word about all these horrible Crimes of Humanity Al-Haraka Islamiya State committed in Sudan. Is it the role of Muslim ulama, thinkers, and leaders of Muslim organizations in the world today to keep silent about all these injustices when brave, straight-forward, and honest condemnation and continuous pressure was being exerted by the non-Muslim individuals and organizations as well as secular NGOs from all over the world and still is?
